Cool antique silver-plated claw tongs is a elegant piece of Victorian style flatware. The Meriden Britannia Co. B/1847 Rogers Bros composition adds to its charm. This item is excellent for collectors of silverware from the late 19th century. The tongs measure 7 inches and are a great addition to any antique silver collection.
There is a blank oblong stamp along the top bend that’s ready for engraving, to make it an extra special family heirloom.
Antique Meriden Britannia Co. B/1847 Rogers Bros A1 Claw Tongs Silver Plated 7” long 2.1/8” opening
In 1862 Meriden Britannia Company bought the hollowware division, tools and dies of Rogers Brothers Mfg Co (incorporating Rogers, Smith & Co).
The production of the '1847 Rogers Bros' line continued under the direction of William Rogers and in 1865 the plating view was transferred from brand-new Haven to Meriden and merged with Meriden Britannia Co in 1866.
